Mayfield V Blarney U12’s

Great Away Win for Blarney U12’s

U12 Div. 1

Mayfield Utd 1 Blarney United 6

Blarney United travelled to Mayfield today for a very important away match against Mayfield. The only loss so far this season in the League for Blarney was against Mayfield on the opening day of the season. The lads were well up for this match as they felt they had a point to prove to themselves as Mayfield have always come out on top in this fixture over the last 2 seasons.

Blarney started the better of the 2 teams and settled well playing some nice football. They took the lead in the 13th minute when Aaron Healy scored from close range after nice work from Oscar Aherne down the right wing. Five minutes later Charlie Cummins made it 2-0 with a fantastic shot from outside the box and with 25 minutes gone in the half Charlie got his second finishing accurately into corner of goal from 12 yards out.

The second half started much the same as first half with Blarney playing lovely football and stretching the Mayfield defence every time they were in possession. Charlie completed his hat trick within 7 minutes of the second half again a nice shot from the edge of the box giving there keeper no chance to save it. Mayfield then pulled a goal back and 2 minutes later a fine save was made from Blarney’s Keeper Michael Lehane after Mayfield won a free kick just outside the Blarney box. Blarney settled again and played some fantastic football for the rest of the match. Aaron Healy who was a constant threat for Blarney every time he was in possession finished the game off with 2 more fantastic goals to complete his hat trick and for Blarney to record a great win.

It was another fantastic team performance playing some very attractive football.

Well done lads on a very focused and committed effort today from the whole team!
