It was a perfect morning for a game in Blarney. It was the third time both teams played each other this season and all three were great games. Both teams were up for the game and the football was played at a fast pace. Blarney took the lead in the 13 minute when a pass back to the Corinthians keeper was intercepted by Darragh Ahern and he skipped passed the Corinthians keeper and put the ball in the net with his left foot from close range to make it 1-0 to Blarney The game was end to end with some good possession from both sides. Corinthians levelled the game in the 18th minute when the ball bounced between two Blarney players outside the box and a Corinthians player got a foot to it and it deflected into the Blarney net to make it 1-1. In the 20th minute a long range shot from a Corinthians midfielder made it 2-1 . In the second third Blarney played the better football from the back with Ben Maher distributing great balls and Gavin O’Sullivan, Cathal McCarthy and Jack Dennehy were starting some great moves from the back with Charlie Cummins working hard in the middle to support these passes. Blarney should have taken the lead in the 30th minute when Cameron Lynch received a great pass from Jack Dennehy and he lobbed the ball over the oncoming Corinthians keeper only to see his effort go just wide of the post. In the final third Blarney had most of the play and with two consecitve corners were Sean Joyce hit the post and Darragh Ahern also bought the the best out of the Corinthians keeper when he made a fine save with his outstretched left leg from close range. Corinthins made some good attempts in the last five but with Maher in top form he denied any threats.
