Blarney U13 v Macroom Friendly

Blarney U13’s  6 –  Macroom 3

Blarney played Macroom tonight in a pre-cup friendly and the game was not short goals.

The visitors were physical and played some great football throughout the game and deserved their lead in the 17th minute when they broke through the Blarney defence and put the ball over the oncoming keeper to make it 1-0. Five minutes later they made it 2-0 with a copy of their first goal.

Blarney were under pressure at this stage but caught Macroom on the break when Jack Dennehy made a good run down the right side and played a great ball from the end line into the Macroom box it was Craig Walsh who poked home from close range to make it 2-1. Blarney responded again from the K.O to make it 2-2 when Cameron Lynch ran down the right and passed two players then cut inside the third and finish across the keeper.

The second half was just as competitive and Blarney got well on top with some great balls out wide and they caused the Macroom defence problems. Blarney got their third in the 40th minute when Cameron Lynch won a corner on the right and he put the ball into the box which was cleared and from the edge of the 18yrd box Evan Crean volleyed an unstoppable goal just inside the left upright.

Blarney were getting on top at this stage and in the 45th Craig Walsh received the ball inside the box and he showed great feet to throw off the Macroom defender and slotted home to make it 4-2. The momentum was with the home side at this stage and with a great ball again over the top it was the speedy Lynch who outpaced the Macroom defence and he tapped over the keeper to make it 5-2. In the closing minutes Dara Ahern won a free outside the box which was played into the box by Gavin O’Sullivan and when cleared by the defence it fell to Ahern who volleyed it home to make it 6-2. Macroom scored in the last kick of the game to make it 6-3 and a very entertaining game on the night.
