Blarney United V Carrigaline U13
Blarney had their first of two friendlies over the Christmas break against a very good footballing side in Carrigaline and it was end to end from start to finish. Blarney made the breakthrough in the 20th minute when Sean Hayes latched on to a through ball from Jerry Murphy and he chipped the outcoming keeper to make it 1-0. The game was played at a great tempo by two very good footballing sides and both defences worked hard to protect their keepers and it remained 1-0 at the break. Blarney stepped up the pace in the second half and with Jerry Murphy dominating in midfield and distributing the ball from side to side giving Blarney the majority of possesion. Cameron Lynch tormented the opposition down the right flank with some great penetrating runs and his crosses were finding Darragh Ahern who was unlucky some great efforts. Against the run of play Carrigaline equalised with 4 minutes to go when Blarney conceded a corner and with an in-swinging corner Carrigaline headed in at the near post to make it 1-1 at the final whistle.
