Passage v Blarney Utd U16’s

Springfield sprung out of the traps and before Blarney knew it we were 2-0 down with only 15 minutes gone. Blarney then began to get a foothold in the game and were unlucky when Oliver Keane’s bullet shot cannoned off the crossbar with the Springfield keeper stranded. Some tactical changes and a different formation saw Blarney dominate the start of the second half. Great work and some tremendous attacking football by Andrew McCarthy, Cian Connolly and Ronan O Brien supported by the midfield duo of Darragh Holland and Zack McCarthy had Springfield penned back however Blarney with some great chances couldn’t find the goal their play deserved. With 20 minutes to go two quick fire counter attacks saw Springfield extend their lead totally against the run of play on both occasions. Blarney never dropped the heads and to their credit continued to attack in droves. Zack McCarthy beat 3 players plus the Springfield keeper to give Blarney a goal we thoroughly deserved. A pin point free kick 3 minutes later from Ronan o Brien saw Andrew McCarthy slot home from 10 yards to make it 4-2.  Blarney piled on the pressure until the end only to see Springfield make it 5-2 with the last kick of the game. Well done to the lads for playing right to the end and thanks to all parents ,u/15 players and coaches for all their support.

See attached picture (mixture of u/15/16’s) the team played their second last game of the season on Sunday away to Springfield,  they got a bus down and stopped off in KFC little island (for some salad!) on the way back.
