Cobh v Blarney United Development Squad

A very under strength squad missing 8 players due to injuries, players cup tied and working went down to league leaders and seasoned  Cobh Wanderers for the league cup. Cobh took a 1-0 lead after about ten minutes. At the 30 minute mark a Rory Goggin Thunderbolt equalised for Blarney.
Conditions were very difficult and although sunny it was extremely windy. This put the Cobh defence under a lot of pressure for a 20 minute period in the first half where they were lucky not to concede again. That being said, but for some wayward finishing they could also gone in at half time ahead.
Experience took over in the second half and once Cobh had secured the second goal taking advantage of the difficult conditions the result became a foregone conclusion.
Special thanks to Dylan O’Riordan, Tom Flaherty Sean Holland and Daniel Sweeney from the under 19s for their time and effort and who all acquitted themselves well.
Best performers for Blarney were Ryan Corbett and Cian Madden.
