Blarney Utd V Macroom

It was the last home game of the season for the U13’s and the conditions could not have be better.

Blarney had a tough game against Macroom away and they were lucky to come away with the points in the Town park.

In O’Shea Park Blarney took the lead in the ninth minute when Cameron Lynch put a great ball in the box from a corner and it was headed home by inform striker Darragh Ahern from close range. The game was close all through the first half and Blarney made it two in the 15th min following some good passing out from the Blarney defence through midfield and up to Sean Joyce who struck a great shot from outside the 18yrd box which the Macroom keeper made a great reaction save and it was Ahern who pounced on the rebound to make it 2-0. Macroom continued to attack and were rewarded in the 20th minute when they headed home from close range with a great header. The game was even for the remaining 10 and it remained 2-1 at HT. In the second half Blarney were more industrious and with some good runs down the left from Billy O’Sullivan Blarney looked like scoring again and in the 35thminute Lynch got into the Macroom box and he laid off a good pass to Joyce who switched the ball to Ahern and he tapped into the goal to make it 3-1. Blarney continued to dominate the remainder of the game and were awarded a penalty in the 45minute which was converted by Gavin O’Sullivan.

Joyce continued to torment the Macroom defence for the remainder of the game with some great runs into space and it was his flick on in the 50th minute through to Lynch and he outpaced the Macroom defence and slipped the ball under the Macroom keeper to make it 5-1 at FT.
