Blarney United U12’s v St. Mary’s

Blarney United 4 St. Mary’s 0

Another vital win for the U12 Division 1 team in their push for league honors and promotion to the Premier League.

The Blarney lads started well but the blustery conditions were making it difficult for both teams’ to settle.

Blarney came close on a few occasions before they eventually broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute.

Charlie Cummins played a nice ball out to Aaron Healy on the left who then crossed it into Darragh Bowdren to shoot from close range which was saved well by the St. Mary’s keeper but it fell to Oscar Aherne who made up good ground on the right to blast the ball into the roof of the net.

In the second half Blarney stepped up there game and Jerry Murphy and Liam Leisk were excellent in the Blarney defence.

Blarney got there 2nd goal ten minutes into the second half when Darragh McCarthy held the ball up well in the opposition box and laid off a fine pass to Aaron Healy who then slotted the ball accurately into the net.

Five minutes later Blarney won a free kick just inside Mary’s half and quick thinking form Charlie Cummins who played a one two with Jerry Murphy and then unleashed an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net to make it 3-0.

A fine individual effort for the 4th goal saw Aaron Healy pick the ball up on the left wing and beat his man and finish from close range giving the goalkeeper no chance to make a save.

It was another great team performance and the attitude & commitment from the lads was top class.
