Blarney U14’s secure promotion

Ringmahon Rangers 1 – 2 Blarney United

Blarney under 14’s had a tough away game against Ringmahon Rangers. The conditions proved very difficult and Blarney elected to play with the wind. Blarney had the best of the first half and were unlucky not to take the lead when the  ball came off the post on a couple of occasions. It was only a matter of time before Ben Hutchinson found the net with the opener that put the away side in control for the rest of the half. Blarney were up against it in the second half and the south siders were using the windy conditions in their favour. The Blarney team to a man were sticking to the task at hand and were trying to catch Ringmahon on the counter but were unlucky not to capitalise. Ringmahon were fortunate to be awarded a corner and from the resulting corner the ball found the net to bring the home side level. Blarney realised they were in a  dog fight and their season would be defined by the last 10 minutes of this football ball game but the Blarney boys rose to the occasion and when Shane O Shea showed some great bravery to finish and secure promotion and guarantee runners up spot. We will give man of the match award to the whole team as it would be unfair to single out any one player, The Blarney management team are very proud of the whole squad and the support and commitment of the players and their parents for the season. Promotion is just rewards for the teams hard work this season.
