Blarney Development v Riverstown

Blarney Utd V Riverstown FC

Two brilliant headers from David Murray was enough to earn Blarney a much-needed win. The home side only had to wait 12 minutes when Murray’s neat header from close range was perfectly placed across the oncoming Riverstown keeper to the bottom corner of the net. Blarney were the better side from the whistle with some good passing play and they deserved their second in the 22 minute when a good passage of play down wide lead to a great out swinging cross from Kieran Murray into the 18-yard box which was brilliantly met by David Murray who climbed above the defender and his header was brilliantly placed to the bottom corner of the Riverstown net. The home side had some good passages of play and held onto the ball for long periods with Ray Murphy and Aounghus Duggan in midfield.

Riverstown upped their game in the second half, and got their reward in the 65th minute when they scored from close range to make it 2-1. Blarney were under the cosh for the remainder but held out for a precious 3 points.
