Blarney under 14’s played host to Carrigaline Hibs on Friday evening for and eagerly awaited cup tie. Blarney continued their winning form a and deserved the victory over a very tough and resilient Carrigaline team. Blarney had some early chances and would have taken an lead only for some fine saves by the Hibs keeper, the breakthrough did come however after 20 minutes when Dylan Constant got his chance and with some neat footwork he slotted it home with aplomb.
Carrigaline to their credit created chances at the start of the second half but the Blarney defence held strong. The tie was put to bed in the second half when a good through ball found Conor O Riordan and he finished well. The result means Blarney progress to the next round away to St Mary’s Tuesday night.
It was a good performance by the team and we will give man of the match to both Adam Higgins and Luke Keogh.
